About our School

Shears Green Junior School was opened in 1958. The main building has 12 classrooms in three blocks of 2 up and 2 down, with wash basins and toilets in each block.

There are 4 more classrooms in hutted accommodation and two further classrooms in a new annex. There is cold water in the classrooms and hot waters in the wash basins; there are offices, stock rooms, medical and staffroom, a main hall for assemblies and physical education, a separate dining room and kitchen and a swimming pool. The main school is heated by oil fired central heating.

The classrooms are equipped with educational apparatus for the work required to meet the National Curriculum Key Stage 2. The main hall is well equipped for Physical Education. One room houses the children’s reference and fiction loan library another houses the superb I.T. suite Each classroom has its own fiction library.

There is a wide range of audio-visual aids available for use in classrooms, including T.V. and Video, cassette records, slide and film projectors, overhead projector and a range of computers, all with internet access. There is a school Bookshop which is open weeky.
