Shears Green Vision Statement for Geography
At Shears Green Junior School, we aim to inspire within our children a natural curiosity and fascination of the world, that will stay with them throughout their lives. In this way, we intend to motivate and inspire our children to find out about their world, both physical and human, so that they take an active part in contributing to and protecting this world as they grow up.
We feel it has never been more important for children to be inquisitive, questioning learners who develop a comprehensive global understanding of our world and the peoples and cultures that inhabit it. Through this understanding our children will develop respect for the physical world and diverse range of cultures which make up our planet.
In order to develop the children's interests we will provide opportunities to use a range of investigative and problem solving skills within the classroom. These will be put into practice outside the classroom through local fieldwork and trips.
Our key focus is for all children to have an understanding of the world: people, places and environments and how they are changing over time.
