Welcome to Term 4 which has been very busy already.
In English this term, we will be studying Aladdin and the Enchanted Lamp by Phillip Pullman. They have already demonstrated great use of exciting vocabulary in their writing.
Measurement is a focus this term for maths and we have been into the Wildlife Garden to investigate capacity (it was very cold, but great fun and mostly they managed to estimate capacity measurements with accuracy).
As a school, we have studied The Tempest - written by William Shakespeare.
Images of our work to come soon!
The Egyptian Workshop was absolutely brilliant and the Maidstone Museum Staff were able to inform us about the history and methods of Mummification and to iron out some of our misconceptions (ask your child about how the Egyptians removed the brain before mummifying pharoahs).
The last session of the day enabled every child in year 5 to make a replica of a Shabtis using air drying clay. The children coped very well with this task and are looking forward to painting their pieces in the near future.
