Sports Day

Dear Parents and Carers

Re : Sports Day Monday 9th July 2018

We have been anxiously watching the weather forecasts for next week and it would appear that there will be no let up to the heat. We are obviously concerned about the children over heating therefore we are changing the sports afternoon to the morning, starting at 9.30am, before the day heats up too much. I understand that this may inconvenience some parents who have taken time from their jobs, but I am giving you as much notice as we possibly can and hope you understand.

The organisation for the day will be as follows:

  • Children arrive at school at normal time wearing their appropriately coloured PE top and shorts which they will remain in all day – no other school uniform will be needed
  • Registration as usual and then children will be taken to the field to get ready for the morning by their class teacher
  • Sports morning activities to begin at 9.30am promptly
  • Activities and races should be completed by about 11 am
  • Parents can stay on the school field at the start of the day, until the sports are completed, at which time they will be expected to leave
  • As mentioned in the school newsletter, children must come to school with a filled water bottle, hats and covered in sun screen
  • We will have fresh water on each activity station for the children to top up their water bottles
  • Refreshments will be available for parents from 9.00am – 9.30am on the school field
  • At the end of sports, the children will go back into school and carry on with their day
  • Please remember that adults are NOT ALLOWED to take photographs on the day as not every parent has agreed to allow their child to be included in photographs
  • The school will take photographs of the children whose parents have given consent and these will be put onto the school website

We are very sorry for the short notice, but we are trying to do the best we can regarding the children’s wellbeing and safety, whilst ensuring that they don’t miss out on the fun.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Jacky Pike
