Shears Green Junior School

Learn. Enjoy. Achieve.

Term 2

This term we are thoroughly enjoying reading Cosmic by Frank Cottrell-Boyce, about a young boy Liam who ends up in space.  As we enjoy delving into this we have written diary entries, described space and written persuasive letters complaining to headteachers.  We are looking forward to finding out how he got there!

We are learning about fractions, decimals and percentages.  We have added, subtracted and even multiplied fractions.  We have found fractions and percentages of amounts and compared them.  We are continuing to rehearse our times tables and test ourselves with our times table challenges.

Topic - Space

Through this topic the children will develop a greater knowledge of the Solar System and learn about the Moon, planets and significant individuals including Galileo and Newton.  We are excited about our visit from the astrodome on 7th November.

Have a look at our visit to the Astrodome in the hall

We had an amazing time in the Astrodome and was very impressed with being able to see the stars and find the milky way.  We also got to experience how gravity felt on the different planets with the use of baked bean tins!

We made aliens! Can you guess what environment they might live in?

Look at our fantastic projects!
