LO: To be able to predict

Look at the front cover

Task 1:  Write what you think the book is based on by the front cover and blurb – don’t open the book

Read the first chapter.

Task 2: Tell us what you think this story is going to be about after having read that chapter.

Did you change your prediction, if so why?

What suggests that to you?

How might Michael be feeling?

Task 3: Design your own front cover based on what you know about the book.

What colour would it be?   What images would you use?  What font would you use to write the title?  You can do this as a hand drawn piece or design it on the computer.

What has Michael has to deal with at this point and how he is feeling?

Task 1: Draw a chart (or use the one in resources) to note how Michael would have been feeling  or what he had been thinking during all of these events

Task 2: Bullet point the list of events in order and any key words from the text that might help.

Task 3: Write a diary entry where Michael relays the information about what has happened to him so far. Using first person and informal language, Michael will need to write in paragraphs to include all of the three things that have happened to him (the details in your chart).

Perhaps you can include some fronted adverbials in your writing that you may have looked at in Monday’s activity.
